#BraveFutures Film Race Teaser (Brooklyn, Atlanta, Oakland 2020)

After a successful competition in Johannesburg, South Africa and Berlin, Germany, we hosted the US edition of this film race for creatives, storytellers and filmmakers of all levels in Brooklyn, Atlanta and Oakland. Using one intersectional theme, one prop and one action, we challenges one selected team in each city to create a film in 48 hours. After a bit of meditation and ancestral guidance we’ve decided to modify the #BraveFuturesFilmRace to reflect our current cultural and political climate.

Participants in each city registered their team (4 max) for a chance to be reviewed and selected by the OTV Tribe. We then selected one team in each city (Brooklyn, Atlanta and Oakland) and provided them with production resources to help bring their films to life.

After the three films were completed and submitted, we hosted a LIVE screening + awards show on December 15, 2020. The live screening + awards show featured an opportunity for their films to be voted on by the public for a chance to win one of three people's choice awards. Additionally, the show featured performances and cameos from Brooklyn, Atlanta and Oakland!

Teams that were selected were provided with a COVID-19 complaint crew, access to camera equipment, a cash stipend for production and post-production support. This special edition of #BraveFutures was like no other 48 hour film competition and we are excited to continue evolving the format, building community, creating space for joy and manifesting bravery.
